25.12.2025

Within the scope of the Child Health Protection and Promotion course, coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özlem Akarsu Akkaya, a lecture titled Sleep Hygiene in Children was delivered with the participation of Sleep Consultant Nurse Seda Özcan.

The lecture addressed key topics including sleep in childhood, the development of sleep behavior, behavioral sleep disorders, sleep training, and sleep hygiene. Sharing her clinical experience through case examples, Seda Özcan created an interactive learning environment throughout the session.

In addition, the lecture included discussions based on the most frequently asked questions she receives from families in her role as a sleep consultant. Through these real-life questions, the relationship between sleep-related knowledge and everyday practice was emphasized, strengthening the connection between theory and real-life applications and enhancing student engagement through interactive discussion.

In another important part of the lecture, the guest speaker shared her professional journey as a nursing graduate, explaining the steps she followed after graduation, the process of becoming a sleep consultant, the training opportunities available in this field, and her current professional practice. This session provided valuable guidance for students in terms of career planning and served as a professional role model.

The lecture concluded with a question-and-answer session.

We would like to thank Seda Özcan for her valuable contributions.
