17.11.2025

A symposium titled "Changing Climate, Changing Mental Health: From the Climate Crisis to Mental Health" was held on November 14, 2025, at the Bakırköy Prof. Dr. Mazhar Osman Mental Health and Neurological Diseases Training and Research Hospital. The symposium was organized in collaboration with the Psychiatric Nurses Association.

This symposium, which addressed the psychological impacts of the climate crisis in Turkey, brought together numerous researchers and academics from various disciplines.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Merve İNAN BUDAK from the Istanbul Medeniyet University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing, delivered her presentation titled "Eco-Anxiety, Trauma, and Grief."In her presentation, she shared with the participants topics related to ecological or climate crisis and the associated ecological anxiety in society, including grief and trauma, coping mechanisms, treatment methods and approaches, as well as the results of studies conducted in Turkey and around the world.

The session, where the now-inevitable ecological crisis and the resulting mental health issues—which necessitate our action—were discussed, was followed with great interest by the attendees.

We extend our gratitude to our faculty member, Assist. Prof. Dr. Merve İNAN BUDAK, for her contributions and valuable representation.
