The Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar, organised by the Health Club, one of our university's student clubs, under the leadership of Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Health Sciences, was held on Thursday, 30 October 2025, at the Cevizli Campus Conference Hall.
The event was moderated by Dr Emel Emine Kayıkçı, a lecturer from our Nursing Department. Specialist Nurse Saniye Öztürk, who participated as a speaker at the seminar, shared important information with the participants on the importance of breast health, breast cancer awareness and the psychosocial dimension of breast cancer.
The event continued with a screening of the documentary ‘Metamazon’, which tells the life story of Canan Perdahlı, who was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. The documentary, which has been shown at national and international film festivals, has given hope to thousands of people. The screening of the documentary once again emphasised the importance of breast health and drew attention to the life-saving role of early diagnosis.
The programme concluded with the presentation of a certificate of appreciation and a gift to the speaker.
