A conference was held on 27 October 2025 at the Cevizli Campus Conference Hall by the Nursing Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Istanbul Medeniyet University as part of the Health and Technology course. At the conference, Dr Ceyda Öztürk Akdeniz, lecturer at the Department of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, Üsküdar University, gave a presentation entitled ‘Artificial Intelligence: Health Services Based on Deep Learning Methods’.
In her presentation, Dr. Akdeniz focused on her doctoral thesis titled ‘Detection of Violence and Suicide Attempt Behaviours in a Psychiatric Clinic Using Deep Learning Methods’. The speaker discussed the stages she went through while conducting this innovative study, the challenges she faced, and the important outcomes the study offered to healthcare services. She shared insightful information about the potential applications of artificial intelligence in nursing and psychiatry.
The conference, which attracted great interest from our students, continued with an interactive question-and-answer session where Dr Akdeniz answered questions from the students.
At the end of the event, our Head of Nursing Department, Prof. Dr. Ayşe OKANLI, and our Vice Dean and lecturer of Health and Technology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özlem İBRAHİMOĞLU, presented a certificate of appreciation to Dr. Ceyda ÖZTÜRK AKDENİZ for her valuable contributions and inspiring presentation.
The conference concluded as an event that inspired our students on the integration of artificial intelligence-based approaches into healthcare services and shed light on future nursing practices.
