Our faculty hosted an important event under the guidance of Associate Professor Dr. Özlem İBRAHİMOĞLU, course instructor and Vice Dean, as part of the HEM113 Health and Technology course, focusing on the protection and implementation of innovative ideas in the field of health. Held on 22 December 2025 at the Cevizli Conference Hall, the event addressed innovation in nursing and legal registration processes.
Dr Ayşegül Alioğulları, Board Member of the Innovative Nursing Association, participated as a speaker, emphasising that healthcare professionals are the ones who best observe problems in the field of practice. Alioğulları began her presentation by explaining why nurses should innovate and the direct impact of this process on the quality of patient care.
The main focus of the event was the ‘Patent and Utility Model Application Process,’ during which participants were provided with the following key topics: What is an invention? What are the differences between intellectual property rights, patents, and utility models? Which subjects can be protected by a patent or utility model, and which are excluded from protection? When should an application be filed, and what critical preparations (literature and patent searches, etc.) must be made prior to filing?
During the question-and-answer session following the presentation, students asked Dr Alioğulları questions about their own projects. This interactive session served as a practical roadmap for future nursing candidates.
At the end of the event, our Vice Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özlem İBRAHİMOĞLU, thanked Dr. Ayşegül Alioğulları for her valuable contributions. İbrahimoğlu concluded the event by presenting our speaker with a certificate of appreciation and a gift in memory of the day.
