The "Artificial Intelligence-Assisted Scientific Research Planning, Reporting, and Publication Process in Health Sciences: A Practical Training Program" was successfully held online on November 27–28, 2025, led by Program Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özlem Akarsu Akkaya.
The program, which aims to support the integration of artificial intelligence applications into research processes in the health sciences, received a large number of applications from faculty members at various universities in Turkey. Due to the practical nature of the program, the quota was limited to 50 students, and the high demand demonstrated the extent of the need in this field. The program was conducted by a strong faculty including expert academics from Istanbul Civilization University, Marmara University, Dokuz Eylül University, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University, Gümüşhane University, and Harvard University.
Opening remarks were delivered by Prof. Dr. Fatma Esra Güneş, Dean of the İMÜ Faculty of Health Sciences; Prof. Dr. Ayşe Okanlı, Head of the Nursing Department; Assoc. Prof. Dr. The program was conducted by Özlem Akarsu Akkaya and Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa University faculty member Prof. Dr. Serap Balcı.
On the first day of the programme, training was provided on the use of artificial intelligence in scientific research processes, literature review, reporting and ethical use.
On the second day, training was provided on data analysis, reference management, journal selection and scientific revision processes; the programme was then completed with practical workshops.
Participant evaluations conducted at the end of the training indicated that the programme was extremely productive. It was stated that the programme made valuable contributions to AI-supported research applications, which are an important need in the field of health sciences, and that its content was comprehensive, high-quality, and instructive.
We would like to thank the organising committee, our esteemed trainers, and all participants who showed interest in the programme for their efforts in bringing it to life. In light of the high level of interest, it is planned to hold the programme again in the near future as a symposium with broader participation.
